Debbie Does Dallas ~ Audience Reviews
I saw the midnight show with two other friends and it was a riot. We had such a great time that we had wished that we asked more of our friends to join us. The production was very well done with the space and equipment they had.
I took my sister and son to see this Musical last Sunday night. We loved it!! Even if you have never seen the original movie, you will find the same uplifting message at the show’s heart: if you recruit your virginal cheerleading squad teammates to do dirty things with men for money, dreams really can come true. The cheerleaders in the show were perky as can be, and their voices were awesome. The men, who all played many roles, were as funny as can be, even when playing their straight parts. I can't even begin to know which scene was my favorite, because the show kept me laughing through the whole thing. The music was perfect for the show. Patrick Ciamacco's direction was right on target!! I can't wait to see more shows at Blank Canvas, if the continue to offer these types of off-beat shows that I love.
Thank you for having the balls to do this show. I have been waiting for years for someone to perform Debbie Does Dallas and I could not have been more satisfied with the show. Keep finding odd obscure shows like this one to put on your future seasons. The cast was terrific and handled the material expertly.
This was a great performance start to finish-wonderful cast-very vibrant-interesting building to have live theatre in-keep it up-we'll be back.
Excellent production. It was fun to watch and the cast was genuinely enthused to be playing their parts. Thanks for the good time.
My cousin and I thought the show was great and we both graduated a long time before 1978. He had paid a lot more to see "Cats" downtown (trying to make his girlfriend happy) and was put to sleep. The cast was amazing! What's next, Viagra the Musical?
My wife and I really enjoyed the show. I thought it was hilarious, especially the banana scene. Much different from our usual live theater experiences. It made for a great night out.
As actual members of the class of 1978 albeit not at "Beaverton" we loved this production. The 70's were definitely evoked by the music and costumes and that particular blend of naivete and sleaziness that era produced. The actors were all great and could sing and dance in addtion to having a good time on stage. We attended with another couple and would gladly return for another production at Blank Canvas.
After reading the PD review by Andrea After reading the PD review by Andrea Simakis) "THE Wordsmithstress Extraordinaire", it became a 'must see'. And, oh was she right on target. My wife and I truly enjoyed our evening at the Blank Canvas Theater (Just finding the venue within the labyrinth of 1305 West 78th was an added experience.) The show was EXCELLENT PLUS! The energy of the cast was more than could be expected. Leslie Andrews has "STAR" written all over her and her talent is given a big boost by the absolutely great supporting cast around her. We will visit Blank Canvas Theater many more times in the future.
PS I think that the girls should lead the cheers for at least one CAVS game)
This was such a great show. The cast gave top notch performances that had my attention from start to finish! I will definitely be coming back to the Blank Canvas in the future!
This show was so funny! It had me laughing and gasping the whole time. Fun date night (if you are comfortable) or girls night out.
Great fun and such talented performers! There is a good chance I will attend another performance with another friend. Looking forward to next season.
On the whole, I avoid musicals, but I'm glad to have made an exception in this case. The sense of fun and of good theatre energy is as vivid in this production as in the other three shows I attended at Blank Canvas in 2012.
Given the absurdity and raunchiness of the "musical", the show would have been a bore without the talent on and off stage exhibited by the folks at "the 'Canvas". Ciamacco and company, especially the very talented Leslie Andrews (Debbie) and her fellow performers ran with their director's leadership and got laughs and appreciation even from this jaded audience member. It was fun and funny!
A wonderfully delightful deviation from the normal December line-up of over-saturated, sugary Christmas shows.
Great Show,
Sure beats out the same old shows that show this time of year. The show was fun and made me laugh a lot, the actors were excellent in there roles. A must see show for the money, will be back again.
my husband and I went with a group of friends who have recently enjoyed several performances at the Blank Canvas. Funny, fast -paced, great actors---I really enjoyed this play. We will be back again for the next season!
Me and my boyfriend went to see it and we both loved it!
All the actors and actresses did a great job
Loved it! Only wish I could have auditioned for the role of Mr Greenfelt. I would have been perfect for the role; old, overweight, myopic and smitten with Debbie(Leslie).
Loved the show!!!! Very tastefully done as well. I LMAO at the banana scene :)
