Brandon Alexander-Smith (Captain Bill Slank) is thankful to be included in this production at Blank Canvas Theatre. Performing at Weathervane Playhouse, Beck Center for the Arts, and now BCT. Brandon has appeared in Bye Bye Birdie (Conrad Birdie), Beauty and The Beast (Gaston), The Mousetrap (Christopher Wren), and Once on this Island (Storyteller/US Daniel).
Brian Altman (Black Stache) is so excited to be back at Blank Canvas Theatre in this imaginative show. His favorite BCT credits include Bat Boy: The Musical (Dr. Parker), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Judge Turpin), Little Miss Sunshine (Uncle Frank), American Psycho (Detective Kimball), and of course, Silence! The Musical (Dr. Hannibal Lecter). Brian's partner of 23 years, their much-loved cat, a very old turtle, and shows like this keep him young at heart. He thanks you for supporting live theater!
Sarah Farris (Molly Aster) is absolutely thrilled to be back on the Blank Canvas Theatre stage! Performance credits include Spring Awakening (Wendla, Ilse), The Fantasticks (Luisa), Chess (Florence), The SpongeBob Musical (Karen the Computer), The Sound of Music (Liesl), Legally Blonde (Kate/Chutney), and The Sleeper (Vivien). Sarah has loved the story of Peter Pan ever since she was a child, and she is beyond excited to now be able to tell that story and bring it to life. So much love to her family, Brendan, and her friends for all of their constant love and support! She hopes that you enjoy the show!
Lysa Kenney (Grempkin/Mack/Fighting Prawn) is appearing for the first time as a crustacean, but this is not her first time on the Bank Canvas Theatre stage. Lysa sends mucho thanks to Patrick for creating such an AMAZING place to work. PRIMAVERA! Lysa has done world-premiere and professional work across northeast Ohio, with favorite roles including Adult Woman (Spring Awakening), Mother Theresa (Children's Letters to Satan), Mother Superior (The Sound of Music), Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street), Viola/Cesario (Twelfth Night), Alice Nutting/Dick Datchery/Edwin Drood (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), and all the fabulous and varied characters in Tony ‘n’ Tina's Wedding (original/closing cast member). Abbey Marshall (Mrs. Bumbrake) is a 25-year-old writer, actor, and journalist in Cleveland, Ohio. A Cincinnati native and Ohio University graduate, she is now a local government reporter for Cleveland's NPR affiliate WKSU/Ideastream Public Media. Abbey’s recent credits include Avenue Q (Kate Monster), Evil Dead - the Musical (Linda), Reefer Madness, and Hair at the Akron Civic Theatre. Thank you to the cast and crew for making her first show on the Blank Canvas Theatre stage a memorable one.
Anne McEvoy (Lord Aster) is grateful to be back at Blank Canvas Theatre after having just performed in Jeff Glover’s comma (Ell). Previously she appeared here in Next Fall (Arlene), One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Nurse Ratched), and Cabaret (Fraulein Schneider). Elsewhere, Anne has performed at Beck Center for the Arts, CATCO, The Cleveland Play House, Cleveland Public Theatre, Dobama Theatre, Ensemble Theatre, Great Lakes Theatre, Karamu House, none too fragile, Ohio Shakespeare Festival, and Seat of the Pants Productions. This one’s for the grandkids.
Jillian Mesaros (Prentiss) is very excited to be back at Blank Canvas Theatre with this wonderful group of people. Sullivan Ratcliff (Boy/ Peter) is thrilled to be a part of Blank Canvas Theatre's production of Peter and the Starcatcher. His previous roles include Moon in The Real Inspector Hound, Luke in The Haunting of Hill House, Sean Bateman in American Psycho, Jetsam in The Little Mermaid, and most recently, Actor 1 in Baskerville: a Sherlock Holmes Mystery. He would like to thank his friends from Kamm’s Corner for their continual support, as well as Katie, Emily, and Lauren. Eliza Rodriguez (Captain Scott) is excited to return to Blank Canvas Theatre after performing here last year in One Man, Two Guvnors (Christine Patterson/Swing). Her other credits include Failure: A Love Story (Nelly) and These Shining Lives (Frances) at Clague Playhouse, Escape to Margaritaville (Ensemble) at The Brecksville Theatre, and Scapin (Hyacinth), Life is a Dream(Ensemble), Equus (Nurse), and Marat/Sade (Ensemble) at The College of Wooster. Jack Routhier (Ted/Music Director) is excited to be back with Blank Canvas Theatre, having recently appeared here in his critically lauded performance as Zak/Ensemble in Leap of Faith (or, at least, lauded by the unknown-but-kindly woman who recognized him on the street last week). Some of his other previous acting credits include The Glass Menagerie (Tom), The Three Sisters (Vershinin), and Ripped (Jared). He has previously played in pit orchestras for Legally Blonde, Anything Goes, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and spent five years performing improvised music with IMPROVment. Despite his many accomplishments, he still doesn't speak German. Thanks to Maja and Merlin for dealing with his shenanigans. Enjoy the show!
Emily Schrader (Alf) is honored and thrilled to be in her first Blank Canvas Theatre production, and incredibly excited to work with such a talented cast and crew. She is a lifelong performer and native of northeast Ohio who recently moved back home for her husband’s law school journey. By day, Emily is a pediatric speech-language pathologist, and is passionate about providing strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming care to clients and families. Some of her theatrical credits include The 25th Annual…Spelling Bee (Rona Lisa Peretti), HONK! (Cat), Pride and Prejudice (Charlotte Lucas), Rent (Mimi Marquez), Macbeth (Witch), and various fairytale princesses and characters for special events with children at Castle On A Cloud Entertainment, which she formerly managed. Angel Newhem Valenzuela (Sanchez/Teacher) 35, is an Akron-based queer, Latinx performer and the 2023 Summit Artspace Arts Alive Emerging Artist of Year. Recent work at the Akron Civic Theatre includes playing Trixie in The Rocky Horror Show, Angel in Rent, Woof in Hair and Nicky in Avenue Q, all with the Millennial Theatre Project, and directing The Blake & Ollie Show. As a member of Cleveland’s LatinUs Theater Company, one of the only Spanish-speaking theater companies in Ohio, Angel played Samuel in Tiempo Muerto from Puerto Rico and Doctor Espitia in La Siempreviva from Colombia. Other credits include Ernst Robel and Gaston in Spring Awakening at Canton’s Avenue Arts Theatre, Scott in Disaster! at Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater, and numerous characters in The Toxic Avenger at Kent State University at Stark’s Players Guild Theatre. Angel also performed in Teatro Publico de Cleveland’s ¡OBRAS EN EVOLUCIÓN 2023! a festival of new play readings at Cleveland Public Theatre. Born in Nayarit, Mexico, Angel grew up in Tijuana.
Patrick Ciamacco (Director, Lighting, Projection, and Set Design) is so excited to be back and directing on the BCT stage and working with people he loves and respects! Patrick is the Artistic Director and founder of Blank Canvas Theatre. He dedicates this show to the person sitting in the third row, fifth seat from the left.
Joy DeMarco (Sound Operator) is excited to be back at Blank Canvas Theatre after stage managing Picasso at the Lapin Agile and Side Show and running sound for Chess. Some of her favorite credits include Mockingbird, The Legend of Georgia McBride, and Something Rotten at Beck Center for the Arts, The 39 Steps and The Addams Family at Huntington Playhouse, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch at Kent State Stark. Joy received a Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Certificate of Merit for her dramaturgy work, and is the costume assistant for Betty’s Costume Creations and Rentals. Endless thanks to her family for all of their support.
Noah Hrbek (Projections) is super pumped to be creating wild imagery and projections for this production, and getting to collaborate with such a wonderfully talented group of people. The last time he participated at Blank Canvas Theatre, it was on stage as Curely in Of Mice and Men. He has worked frequently with BCT both on and off stage, and looks forward to continuing this as often as possible. He also does graphic art for Near West Theatre, makes children’s book illustrations, and plays guitar for a rock musical project: Future Perfect.
