The Stories

DISASTER!

It's 1979, and New York's hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. Also attending is a faded disco star, a sexy nightclub singer with her eleven-year-old twins, a disaster expert, a feminist reporter, an older couple with a secret, a pair of young guys who are looking for ladies, an untrustworthy businessman and a nun with a gambling addiction. What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, such as earthquakes, tidal waves and infernos. As the night turns into day, everyone struggles to survive and, quite possibly, repair the love that they've lost... or at least escape the killer rats.

Disaster!  is a new musical straight from Broadway, featuring some of the most unforgettable songs of the '70s. "Knock on Wood," "Hooked on a Feeling," "Sky High," "I Am Woman" and "Hot Stuff" are just a few of the scintillating hits in this hilarious musical comedy with a book by three-time Emmy Award nominee and SiriusXM Broadway host, Seth Rudetsky, and Jack Plotnick.

PIPPIN

Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day.

With an infectiously unforgettable score from four-time Grammy winner, three-time Oscar winner and musical theatre giant, Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is the story of one young man's journey to be extraordinary. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, this updated circus-inspired version of Pippin continues to captivate and appeal to the young at heart throughout the world.

Tony (Male 30-50, Tenor) A very unscrupulous but attractive and (sometimes) charming middle-aged schemer.

Jackie (Female 30-50, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto) An aging but still sexy showgirl and now lounge singer. Dumb but honest. Goldie Hawn-esque.

PIPPIN

Leading Player (Male or Female 30s to 50s, Tenor) The ultimate ‘ringleader.’ Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. Excellent mover. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience.

Pippin (Male 18-30, Tenor) Our story’s young and confused protagonist. He is longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontented. Eventually finds love, and meaning in life, with Catherine and Theo.

Charlemagne (Male 40-70, Baritone) Pippin’s demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride.

Lewis (Male 18-30, Baritone) Charlemagne and Fastrada’s son. Strong and not bright. Pippin’s half-brother and after Pippin, heir to the throne. Addicted to the physical, Lewis loves weightlifting, Lewis loves wrestling, but most of all, Lewis loves Lewis.

Fastrada (Female 30-60, Mezzo-Soprano) Pippin’s conniving stepmother, she is both beautiful and smart. Devious, crafty, cunning, untrustworthy. Dedicated to gaining the throne for her darling son, Lewis.

Berthe (Female 60-80, Alto) Pippin’s saucy grandmother. A brassy woman full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest.

Catherine (Female 25-40, Mezzo-Soprano) A widow and mother. She is beautiful and a hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him.

Theo (Male 10-18, Tenor) Catherine’s son.

Band of Players (Male and Female 18-60) Heavily featured throughout, the Band of Players play many roles; they represent the influences and voices in Pippin’s head. Seeking all ages, genders, types as well as actors who possess special skills like acrobats, aerial silks, juggling, etc.
